People have changed over the years with their athletic progression. We have been able to run faster, longer, and healthier than ever before. Though there are a variety of factors that play into this key role of living  long, healthy, and prosperous lives, nutrition is a main one.

Some may expect that if they simply workout longer and harder, they might get into their desired body shape: this is not the case. Several organizations who have done research on this exact topic have found that healthy eating is a significant factor to getting fit.

So what are some popular diets here at MV? Many athletes have resorted to protein shakes and drinks, such as muscle milk, to maintain healthy fitness, and dietary levels.

Sophmore Guiliano DiMartini is a part of an internationally prestigious company known as Herbalife. Herbalife sells various products such as protein bars, shakes, vitamins and tea. One of the main factors of leading people away from protein products is their horrendous taste. However Herbalife tastes exactly like the flavor it displays for. With the variety of flavors spanning from Mint Chocolate Chip to Strawberry, its hard to go wrong with these dietary replacements, protein products. There is also the prestige of this product with professional athletes like Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo who also are taking Herbalife’s products.

Another main brand of protein products is the well known Muscle Milk. Muscle Milk, like Herbalife, has a wide variety of protein products such as protein bars, shakes, and the list goes on. Muscle Milk is a product also used by a variety of professional athletes such as world class snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler and is partnered with severe major universities such as UCLA and CAL.

Another major diet that athletes are on are without protein products include nuts, beans, low fat dairy products, lean meats and seafood. Many who want to gain their muscle mass index completely give up sweets and high fat foods.

There are also several smaller factors that play into being healthy and maintaining high fitness, such as a minimum of 8 hours sleep every night.

Every meal should have a focus on a specific aspect of nutrition. Breakfast should include several carbohydrates and protein. Lunch should be basic consisting of several fruits and vegetables. Dinner should be the largest meal of the day with lots of carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins.
