Being a senior during second semester is the most relaxing time of your high school career. A time for skipping classes to hang out with friends, not doing homework or studying for tests, and barely paying any attention to your teachers as they struggle to keep you engaged… right? Wrong. For some, second semester as a senior is the most stressful time of your life, where you must spend weeks preparing, planning, and training for the most important senior activity of the year: Assassins.
Some would describe Assassins as an enjoyable game where you are tasked with hunting fellow classmates with Nerf guns trying to rack up as many eliminations as you can, in order to win the grand prize of $1,000. This description is wrong. Assassins is no mere Nerf game; there is no time for messing around or having fun with your friends. It is a serious matter of life or death. One where if you want to survive, you must dedicate the rest of your high school life to winning. Thinking of playing a spring sport? Forget it, because you’re already eliminated at that point. If you’re thinking of going home after school to study for a big test the next day, forget that too, because your focus has to be locked in 24 hours a day. Well at least you’ll be able to go to bed after a long day to get a full eight hours of sleep right? Wrong again. If you’re not up at five am every morning outside your target’s house, then you should probably just quit the game.
To play this game, you not only need to be hunting your targets all day every day, and constantly strategizing and planning with your team, you need to have the best, most expensive equipment possible. If you’re planning on using the old Nerf guns you stowed away in your closet as a kid, not used since the last time you had a Nerf battle with your little sibling, then you’ve got another thing coming. To go anywhere in Assassins you must buy the most extravagant and flashy Nerf gun possible on Amazon with a price tag upwards of $150. That’s not all though, as you’ll need something to record your amazing kills with. To solve this problem, you must buy the newest GoPro camera, so that you can record yourself and your friends sprinting through neighborhoods and hiding in bushes while sneaking up on your unsuspecting targets in ultra HD 4k quality. If you do all of these things, then maybe, just maybe, you’ll have a shot at winning senior assassins.
