Music festivals galore
For all the music lovers out there at Monte Vista, this is the perfect music festival summary which will give you information about upcoming music festivals in California.
Coachella is a festival held in Indio, California and will take place April 11-13 and April 18-20, which are both weekends. Over 100 artists perform at this popular music festival. This years line up seemed to spark the interest of many indie music listeners. Some popular artists that are taking the stage at this upcoming music festival include: OutKast, Zedd, Girl Talk, Ellie Goulding, Aloe Blacc, A$AP Ferg, GroupLove, Muse, Pharrell Williams, Skrillex, Foster the People, MGMT, Empire of the Sun, Kid Cudi, Arcade Fire, Calvin Harris, Lana Del Rey, Chance the Rapper and many more.
“I’d want to see OutKast the most,” Senior Alyssa Gerontides, who wishes she was going to the festival, said. “They’re the bomb.”
Stagecoach is a country music festivals which is going on April 25-27 this year. Like Coachella, Stagecoach takes place in Indio, CA. For all the people who enjoy jamming to country music, this would be a great festival to attend. Many popular country artists are making an appearance at this festival. Some of these artists include Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes, Lee Brice, and Florida Georgia Line.
“The lineup this year is so good!” Sophomore Haley Schreiber said. “I think Luke Bryan would be the best to see.”
The HARD SUMMER festival takes place on August 3rd and 4th in Southern California, about 10 miles away from downtown LA in Los Angeles State Historic Park . With over 75 performers, this festival is bound to take a musical experience to a whole new level. Although this year’s lineup has yet to come out, the festival drew the attention of over 70,000 fans last year. Performers included Empire of the Sun, Bassnectar, 2 Chainz, Crystal Castles, Baauer, Knife Party, and many more. Keep an eye out for the upcoming lineup, as it should be announced in the next few weeks.
The Outside Lands music festival is located right in our backyard at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Indie, techno, rap, and other types of artists gather together to put on this festival. Mark your calendar for August 8-10, because that’s when this festival is happening. This lineup has yet to be released, but should be expected to come out around the time of Coachella. Performers such as Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Phoenix, Kaskade, Vampire Weekend, Pretty Lights, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hall & Oates, Matt and Kim, and Zedd all made an appearance at this summer festival. This year, it is rumored that Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Chance the Rapper, and Daft Punk will make an appearance.
You can’t go wrong with any of these festivals. No matter which you go to, you’re bound to hear some great music, and have a unique experience that you won’t be able to have at a regular concert.
