The local Nutcracker

An annual festive production of a quintessential holiday show has made its way back to the Bay Area: Impresssions of the Nutcracker.

Produced by the San Ramon Valley Dance Academy, this is a time-honored tradition that the dancers lucky enough to be a part of relish.

Performed at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center on December 14th and 15th, the show was, as always, a huge success.

Junior Sarah Joo has been a part of the show for the past few years, and loves every minute of it.

“It’s something everyone wants to be a part of.” Joo said.

The basic story of the Nutcracker involves a small girl named Clara that gets a Nutcracker doll for Christmas from her godfather. She wakes up and discovers that all of her toys are life sized and the story continues with a journey through the Kingdom of Snow.

The Danville Patch describes the show as having “stunning costumes, professional staging and talented dancers”. Clearly this is not one to miss. If you weren’t able to catch the show this year, keep an eye out for other performances coming up.
