MV women’s volleyball

It seems as though this is the year Monte Vista volleyball has been waiting for.

The team entered their league season ranked first in EBAL (East Bay Athletic League). After falling second to San Ramon Valley last season, the team, including the group of returning seniors; Natalie Brooker, Kelsey Hirsch, Hailey Lindberg, Kelly Strand, Rachel Underwood, and        Lauren Utchen, – has been working hard to improve their record by improving themselves.

At the Deer Valley Tournament, the mustangs beat San Ramon in the semi finals just before losing in the finals to previous division V state champions, Sacred Heart Cathedral High School.

Maclaine Fields, Hailey Lindberg, and Rachel Underwood are already committed to play collegiate level volleyball. Other key players include Lauren Utchen, who leads the league in set assists, and Natalie Brooker who leads the league in blocks.

This much anticipated season has the team working harder than ever.

“This season our ultimate goal is to win league which hasn’t happened since 1996. However we are making a conscious effort to work hard throughout every game, practice, and tournament to take many small steps to reach that goal,” said senior captain Kelsey Hirsh.

Women’s volleyball plays every Tuesday and Thursday in the large gym. Come out and support this much anticipated season by joining the Monte Vista 7th man.
